Shogun Nib

If pens are indeed mightier than the sword, then what is a nib, if not the most integral part of a pen?
The Shogun Nib has the might of a pen with the impact of a sword.

The Shogun Nib is our new 18K Nib available in either solid gold or Rhodium, and just like its name suggests, it is a nib meant to be as powerful as it is luxurious. The Shogun Nib’s greatest strength is in the purity of the precious metals used to create it, allowing the user to achieve a smooth, yet tactile writing experience. This is a one-of-a-kind 18K Nib for its combination of beauty and functionality, and what sets it apart from other nibs is the effortless feeling of writing yet the small degree of tactile feedback is a reminder of the significance of the written word.

Due to its roots in Japanese culture, we first used the Shogun Nib with the beloved Matcha Fountain Pen and the newly released Frozen Sake Fountain Pen with the former showcasing the Shogun's 18K Solid Gold variant, and the latter exhibiting the Shogun's 18K Rhodium version. While we intend to increase the Shogun Nib's compatibility beyond the True Urushi collection, The Frozen Sake, and Matcha, we thought it would honor the legacy of the shogun best if this nib was initially linked to such uniquely Japanese pens. Like the Shogun of centuries past, the Shogun Nib is unique and complex, and through its sheer existence, commands everyone’s attention.

Inspiration

Over a hundred and fifty years have passed since the end of the Shogunate, and with it, the Last Shogun. Despite the numerous changes since then, the legacy of the Shogun - the feared, military leader of samurai and Japan - can be seen all across Japan.Whether it’s the architecture of Osaka Castle and Fushimi-inari, literature and arts such as The Tale of Genji (one of the oldest books in history), and our brand new 18K Nib, the influence of the Shogun continues to thrive even in this age of modernity.

This is why when we searched for inspiration for our 18K Shogun Nib, we immediately decided that this esteemed figure of Japanese history would be the perfect subject upon which we created this nib. The first shogun of The Last Shogunate - Tokugawa Ieyasu - became the shogun after proving victorious through dozens of battles against invaders, political rivals, and traitors alike, and the result of his triumph was the establishment of Edo (now known as Tokyo) as the preeminent seat of power in all of Asia. When making the Shogun Nib, we did so with the intention of creating a nib that has triumphed over all others, and has the capability of not only earning a place in one’s collection, but dominating over the entirety of it.

Compatibility

The Shogun Nib is currently only compatible with The True Urushi collection, The Matcha Fountain Pen, and The Frozen Sake Fountain Pen, but we are doing our best to craft new versions to be compatible with other collections in our catalogue.
