Important Notice: The hand-making process makes every single pen a unique one, there is no pen exactly resembling one another. The one you will receive might be slightly different from the one here in the pictures but if you appreciate that beauty of hand-craftsmanship, you will be happy with the pen we've made for you.
Dream Pen - Zogan Momiji
Dream Pen Zogan Momiji is hand-crafted with Japanese traditional art called 象嵌 / Zogan with "Zo" (象) means "symbol" and "Gan" (嵌) means "inlay".
Inspired by beautiful scenes of falling leaves in Japan during Autumn, Dream Pen Zogan Momiji features the image of Japanese traditional symbols Momiji Leaves by inlaying mother of pearl onto the ebonite pen body.
The attractiveness of a Zogan art is how its color changes depending on the angle of light. And to create such a piece of art, not only skills and art sense but great attention to detail is also required. First, the pearls are cut into the desired motif. Then the craftsman will carve the surface of the pen body in the exactly same size as the motif. And the carved surface will be inlaid with many layers of cut pearls to finish the art.
Using both Urushi and Zogan technique, we made this fountain pen to honor the traditional arts in the form of a writing instrument.
The final designs are available in Red and Black Urushi editions.
